So in honor of those who fought for our freedom, our country, and our citizens, I will make a post about the death of Osama. However, I do not believe that this is a celebration in any way. Yes, we should celebrate that we are free, but we should also respect those that lost their lives in 9/11 and those that have given their lives to provide us with the way of life we so love.
Its also a frightening time to be a New Yorker and an American, because retaliation is a very real thing.
With all of this in mind, I would like to address the Facebook happenings of the evening.
Facebook literally BLEW UP with status updates and new profile pictures.
There were some updates about Harry Potter, some about Pope John Paul II being beatified on the same day, some about Hitler being killed on the same day as Osama, some about the disrespect of those partying on this day, and those that were making fun of the madness (ME!).
All in all, it has been a very memorable evening. Its quite funny to think that Facebook has been the way most college and high school students choose to commemorate this evening. Yet, it is still important to remember that we have lost many men, women, and children because of this man. While it is a great victory for America, we must remember with heavy hearts the price that was paid for justice.
