Before I begin this post, I would just like to say that this video is really great and the song is really catchy.
But, however great this video may be, and however catchy this song may be, I really have to wonder what people are thinking.
I mean the first lyric in the song is "There's a stranger in my bed." Okay, if there is a stranger in YOUR bed wouldn't you be a little freaked out? I mean clearly you were drunk, but really. And the whole first verse doesn't get much better than that. (One of my favorite lines being "I smell like a minibar." Yum.)
But don't worry folks, the lesson of the song is not to worry because you can do it all again next Friday.
Wow, some awesome role models we have.
And speaking of promoting alcoholic behavior, I was reading Seventeen Magazine (my little sister's) a few days ago, and while reading a section on how to party, I came across a 16 year olds comment about how he doesn't like it when girls get drunk at parties because he doesn't like to have to take care of them.
1. You're 16.
2. You are openly admitting to an illegal act in a magazine that will go across the country (and even to some other countries.)
3. Are you an idiot?
I think GloZell describes this whole phenomenon well in her translation of Tick Tock by Ke$ha:
Another question I have is what is everyones' obsession with glitter? All the parties I have been to do not include glitter, nor does glitter ever appear. Is there something I am missing about this glitter-fest?
I'm not sure about all of this, but it seems to me that singing about your alcoholic behavior just makes you look pretty stupid.
Maybe I'm just not in the loop...
