Well folks, its almost the end of vacation.
A lot has happened over the past few days. We've spent every day at the beach reading, playing ping-pong, swimming, eating, drinking, soaking up the sun. Its been glorious!
The water has been very sea kelp-y. Its kind of gross and you feel as if you are swimming in large amounts of green hair. As appealing as that sounds, it really isn't.
However, the weather has been lovely. We usually head out to the beach around 11, eat around 2, and spend the rest of the day reading and enjoying the breeze.
Yesterday we took family photos on the beach. Everyone looks great--except that I look a little awkward in all the photos. Not enough so that they were voted out of the collection, but enough that I look at myself and wonder why I wasn't left at home for the family photos. But my mom says I look good! :]
I finished reading Lamb (EXCELLENT BOOK!) and have decided that I am going to learn everything I can about religions from all over the world. Maybe some traveling will be involved? (I sure hope so!) Last night I learned a bit about Mormonism from Wikipedia--very interesting religion. Check it out if you don't know a lot about it.
Yesterday I started reading Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell. If you don't know this lady, she has written several essay collections, a couple books, and was the voice of Violet in The Incredibles. Need I say more?
Anyway, this book explores the assassinations of Presidents Lincoln, Garfield, and McKinley. So far I'm only on the chapter about Lincoln, but MAN! This lady really knows her stuff. Not to mention, she is hilarious. Seriously, if you are into history or coincidental conspiracy (not that I believe in coincidences), this is a great book for you to check out.
I've also decided on this vacation that I want to know everything there is to know about everything. Well most things. There is only so much Shark Week I can take (sorry sharks... you are interesting, but I just don't really care THAT much.)
Another think I have decided is that when you get 5 girls together in one hotel room all on similar cycles (if you know what I mean), things can get a little grouchy. Not that I don't love my sisters VERY DEARLY, but sometimes too much togetherness does not work in our favor. (LOVE YOU GUYS!)
So there you have it, our week in a nut shell.
I have been thinking A LOT--probably too much--which has made me a little antsy. But as my dad tells me, there is just too much floating around in my head. So its nice to share these things with y'all, whoever that is.
Okay, folks! Until next time.
A lot of my best friends growing up were Mormon. The web and media doesn't really do the average Mormon justice, so if you'd ever like to talk about it, you know where to find me :) They're seriously some of the nicest, wholesome people you'll ever meet.
ReplyDeleteYeah, remember our conversation that one night in your bug?
ReplyDeleteOn one hand THIS, and on the other hand THAT, and it's just a massive cycle back and forth for what seems like forever.
Then, in our thoughts, we come to the conclusion that the crux of that which all the answers lie is to something which can never be truly answered. Or at least it's unknown.
Soooooo it comes down to Faith.
It seems like no matter what we people believe in, it all comes down to hope that we are more than what we make Animals out to be. More than just a blip in infinity.
I think we are.
Within ourselves lives the desire for eternity, the ultimate glory. That's why mankind can never stop building, and creating, and accomplishing things for themselves. We strive and long for the glory that lives within, and go mad trying to better understand how to grasp it for ourselves.
I say just go with it. Hahaha
People have such a way of categorizing intelligence and greatness, but I think that such things are beyond our grasp in this world.
Best to just live in the here and now, I suppose.
Whata Rant!
Regards!
